Load, Stress, and Capacity Testing

Read about performance testing here
Load testing
Load testing is just one type of performance testing, and it is an approach that can be used to test many aspects of application performance. However, not all performance testing involves load testing.
Stress testing
Stress testing assesses how the system performs when loads are heavier than usual. The load pattern of a stress test resembles that of an average-load test. The main difference is higher load. The load in a stress test starts in a way that resembles load in an average-load test. The difference is that it reaches a higher level of load over the course of the test.
Capacity testing
Capacity testing (sometimes called scalability testing) helps you identify the maximum capacity of users the system can support, while not exceeding the max page time you defined.
