Cybersecurity - Vulnerability Assessment

A vulnerability assessment is a systematic cybersecurity process used to identify, classify, and prioritize security weaknesses in an organization's digital environment.
Our vulnerability assessment of your system follows the following steps:
Data sanitization and Validation
Validate the data sent by the user before processing them. T
Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
Ensure that the access to the information is constrained based on the user permissions.
Secure Data Storage and Encryption
Ensure that the sensitive data in the database are encrypted. The Laravel framework provides encryption functions [6] that can be used for encrypting data.
Security Patch Updates and Maintenance
Ensure that the technologies used for development are updated and match the latest security patches.
Rate Limiting
Ensure that the endpoints used for authentication or for querying sensitive information are appropriately rate-limited.
Cross-Site Scripting (XSS)
Ensure that the data returned to the user is properly escaped.
Dependencies Update
Run npm audit or composer audit –locked on a weekly basis or a monthly basis to check for vulnerabilities and update the dependencies accordingly.
Use Of Insecure Functions
Avoid the use of md5() for encryption. [3]
Missing Security Headers and Content Security Policy (CSP)
The security headers and the content security policy (CSP) of your application are evaluated.
Logging for the CRUD operations on the database
Whenever possible, log the Create, Read, Update and Delete operations performed on the database.
Missing Authorization
Evaluate the vulnerability Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) for each route of the web application. Ensure the proper authorizations are set for each route of the web application.
Avoid Exposing API Keys & Passwords into shared repositories.
If the secrets need to be pushed into the repository, the file must be encrypted.
Missing contacts for security issues (optional)
A security.txt can be added to the web application. It contains the contact information for the issues related to the security of your web application.
