Performance testing

Performance Testing
The primary concern of performance testing is how well a system works.
Unlike functional testing, which tests whether a system works, performance testing seeks to measure qualitative aspects of a user's experience of a system, such as its responsiveness and reliability.
The metrics measured in the performance tests are based on the k6 metrics types : Counters, Gauges, Rates and Trends.
The following items can be tested as part of the performance testing:
Scalability
Scalability is a web application's ability to handle large data loads of growing digital traffic without any interruptions and degrading in app performance.
Elasticity
Elastic computing is the ability to quickly expand or decrease computer processing, memory, and storage resources to meet changing demands without worrying about capacity planning and engineering for peak usage.
Availability
An available website is a website that is accessible and usable as expected by the user. When speaking about availability, we often refer to the ratio of the available time to the total time. Typically, a site’s availability is described as a percentage such as 99.9% availability.
Reliability
Application reliability refers to the software's ability to perform consistently according to its specifications. If your application is reliable, your users can always use its features, and they won’t experience any slowdowns.
Resiliency
A resilient app is one that continues to function despite failures of system components. Resilience requires planning at all levels of your architecture. It influences how you lay out your infrastructure and network and how you design your app and data storage. Resilience also extends to people and culture.
Latency
Latency describes the amount of delay on a network or Internet connection. Low latency implies that there are no or almost no delays. High latency implies that there are many delays. One of the main aims of improving performance is to reduce latency.
